My 4 year old!

Posted on January 10, 2012 by Mary Kay Keller

I have a 4 yr. we have been together since he was 2 1/2. he goes back and forth us and his mom for a week at a time. he has been potty trained fully for about 8 months and all the sudden he has wet the bed five times in the last two weeks. I have talk to him about and I don’t give him drinks before bed any more but he had them until he started peeing the bed. we have just got roommates about two months ago with a 2 year old but they get along good. do you have any advice on how to get it to stop?

Tina

Dear Tina:

I am confused you have a 4 year old who has been with you since he was 2 1/2? Is this your stepson? Now he has been fully trained since he was about 3 and 1/2 and has suddenly started having bed wetting accidents since you moved in room mates? If I am confused do you think he maybe also?

Anytime a child has what they consider to be a major change in their life they are likely to regress to more child like behavior. Who are these room mates? I always have a problem with adults who have children moving in people to live with them who are not related for the obvious reasons.

I am not saying your room mates are bad people however we only know people as well as they will let us know them. Child predators are almost always someone you know, someone you love and/or someone you trust.

This little boy is old enough to talk. Ask him what is going on? Is he unhappy? Is he upset? Get him talking. The best way to do this is by doing some activity with him and then telling him a story about when you were little and afraid or upset about something and then LISTEN. Give him plenty of time to talk to you on his terms.

Best Wishes!

M Kay Keller

COMMENTS: I just wanted to say thank you our roommates moved out the following week. me and my step son have talked about it and he misses them all the time but he is no longer wetting the bed!
