I am very worried about my grandson, he is 11 months old and he looks like he is developing very normal, he is already starting to talk he smiles a lot and is very responsive but he has yet to manage to sit up by himself or even start pulling up himself to stand up. If you sit him he will stay seated if you pull him up and he can hold onto something he will stay up but he doesn’t seem to want to move.
You know most kids at that age can walk around their crib while holding on. My daughter says this is normal but she hasn’t asked the pediatrician. Also instead of the normal crawling with the legs crawled up he slides himself all over the floor without moving his legs kind of like pushing himself with his hands and arms to get to the objects of his attention. Is this normal?
All children develop at their own pace. Developmental milestones (behaviors at certain ages) are only based on what most children do around a specific age. Some children do things earlier and we want to say they are smarter and when children do things later we worry. Believe it or not earlier is not always better. Sometimes children just have their own individual time tables. If mom isn’t worried yet then relax. If he gets regular checkups then most likely the doctor will check his development out.
If you continue to worry do an Internet search and read up on child development. Some of my favorite sites are Talaris.org and zerotothree.org.
So glad your grandson has you to watch out for him too!
